Grand Traverse Plastics Corp seeks a machinist to aid our company in its mission. As one of our machinists, you will interpret print specifications or job instructions to make or repair tools to required specifications.

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications.
• Discuss project specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products, and collaborate to modify designs when existing ones are not feasible.
• Develop a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications.
• Measure and mark raw materials needed to manufacture parts.
• Set up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan.
• Operate equipment to carry out each step correctly.
• Use of measuring tools, such as micrometers, indicators, and other associated tools.
• Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning and tool replacement.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

• Strong math skills and comfort in print reading.
• Tech training/full time experience in combination of 5 years.
• Comfortable using tools and maintaining machinery.
• Familiarity with programming and interpreting CNC software.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
