Summary Incumbent serves as the Program Support Assistant in Social Work Service for the Caregiver Support Program. The position is located at the Wilkes-Barre VAMC. Responsibilities Duties include, but not limited to: Administrative Support Serves as point of contact for programs within Social Work Services for CSP-(Caregiver Support Program) Provides phone, message and consult tracking duties to assure compliance with medical center policy and VA Directives Provides patients approved information, including but not limited to program eligibility, benefits, and services Schedules clinic appointments Provides outreach event logs to facility Outreach and Access Committee Provides administrative support for special CSP events Data Collection, Compiling, and Tracking Collects, compiles, and tracks statistical information in support of multiple program Receives, scans and processes documents and reports in accordance with established procedures for Caregiver Support programs Attains and maintains computer skills on a variety of software programs, including word processing, file management, CPRS, PKI, VISTA, and EXCEL spreadsheets, and communication tools such as MS Outlook Accurately collects, enters, and manages data, including both patient and program data Maintains and manages databases which contain a wide variety of Veteran specific information, including the Caregiver Record Management Application (CARMA) system Fund Control Point(s) Verifies that funds are available for Caregiver Support Programs. Verifies all funds paid and available in SWS Fund Control Points, when needed to support Caregiver Support Programs Collects, maintains, and forwards motor vehicle trip logs to the VA garage Serve as Fund Control Point clerk ensuring that obligations increases and decreases are submitted and monitored Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am- 4:30 pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/07/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of management to arrange conference/meetings appropriately, prepare reports of proceedings; Knowledge of filing systems, office operations, references and manuals; Knowledge of computer programs and advanced functions of a variety of types of office automation software such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and graphic programs (Microsoft office); Knowledge of time and leave policies and procedures.. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial and technical school. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary although some walking, bending, standing and carrying of light items such as files and office supplies are required.
