Description
This position performs and documents diverse bench inspections of a variety of standard or custom aircraft parts, products, and materials that are being repaired in house or received from vendors. Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Proficiently use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gauge, pins, torque wrenches, counter sink gauges, and other instruments required.
Checks color, finish, dimensions, hardness, density and other measurable and observable characteristics of material as defined.
Checks the manufacturer data/repair manual to ensure the part is repaired to specification.
Follow FIFO methodology regarding inspection priorities or follow guidance from huddle.
Inspection of components, subassemblies, final product and paperwork associated with each inspected items.
File accurate and complete documentation of inspection results.
Issue first pass yield findings when a part can be reworked.
Perform foreign object detection (FOD) activities to minimize any potential risks.
Turn in inspected parts for stocking or shipment and close inspection task in ERP.
Basic knowledge regarding engineering orders.
Thoroughly familiar with Repair Station Manual/Quality Control Manual.
Issuance of airworthiness approval tags for both domestic and dual release (FAA/EASA) for Part 145.
Visual inspection of product to engineering drawings/specifications.
Inspect all paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
Test supplier products per test procedure as applicable.
Receive into stock, via ERP system, per WA-8.2.1-10.4 and ensure that correct part number, serial number and condition are entered.
Attach all associated paperwork electronically and keep hard copies of any inspection/repair reports and 8130’s with the product.

High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in an inspection, Aviation maintenance or similar role.
Ability to pass initial and random FAA Drug/Alcohol screening requirements.
Technical fluency in Office products (Excel required) and familiarity with ERP system.
Basic knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, including applicable FAA regulations.
Basic knowledge regarding airworthiness directives and advisor circulars.
Basic knowledge regarding manufacturer’s service letters and bulletins.
Proficient math skills to calculate dimensional sizes.
A&P certification or meet the requirements for a repairman certificate per Part 65
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ISO or AS9100 processes and procedures.
