We’re always striving to raise the bar and lead the market in service excellence. For that endeavor, we seek an experienced and driven Director of Business Development to join our iconic hotel. This is a dynamic role that will work closely with the Area Director of Sales & Marketing to develop and execute sales strategies, lead the Sales team, and drive revenue.

Every day is different, but you’ll role will include:

  • Managing daily sales activities and coaching your team to deliver to their full potential.

  • Direct and support the sales team to achieve revenue goals. 

  • Develop sales and marketing strategies, including pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and sales tactics to drive measurable incremental occupancy, and increase average rates, volume and food and beverage sales. 

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with potential clients, corporate partners, event planners, and local businesses through networking and attending industry events to promote the hotel and generate leads.

  • Producing and analysing monthly reports to monitor performance.

  • Conduct market research to identify target markets, competitor analysis, and relevant knowledge of the local business environment.

  • Identifying and negotiating partnerships with relevant organizations, such as airlines, tour operators, and travel agencies, to drive bookings and increase brand visibility.

  • Organising events such as media launches, familiarization tours, and networking events to generate buzz and create awareness about the hotel among key stakeholders.

  • Assist the Area Director of Sales and Marketing to create a great working environment for teams to thrive.

  • Collaborate with other departments to create a sense of one-team.  

  • Assist the Director of Sales and Marketing in the development and preparation of the hotel’s annual business plan and department operating budget.

  • Hitting all personal and team sales goals to help us maximise efficiency and performance.

  • Assisting in the recruitment and training of the sales team. This may involve conducting interviews, providing training on sales techniques, and ensuring that the team is equipped to effectively promote the hotel.

  • Leading and supporting Sales team members to achieve personal and business goals.

The right person for this dynamic role is a self-starting leader who inspires others, formulates rational and creative ideas, professionally communicates, and can execute a plan from start to finish. They have a high standard of technical knowledge and experience that sets an example to others. As a minimum, the right person will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in business/hospitality/sales or related field.

  • At least four years of experience in hotel sales and marketing, across a broad range of market segments.

  • A knowledge and understanding of market conditions and the competitive landscape.

  • A demonstrated capability of collaborating with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.

  • A high level of attention to detail and excellent communication skills – both written and oral.

  • An ability to think strategically, develop ideas into workable solutions and execute in detail.

  • A desire to explore new ways of working, an open mind and view challenge and respectful debate as a path to better outcomes.

  • A proactive approach to developing and maintaining strong relationships.

  • Resilience and an infectious positive attitude.

  • The ability to speak the local language is preferred but not essential.
