The Walt Disney Company Senior Financial Accounting Analyst in Santa Monica, California

This is an intermediate level professional position that requires in-depth knowledge and experience of accounting and operating processes. Senior Financial Accounting Analysts are expected to use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services. They solve complex problems, work independently, and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively lead and project manage implementation of new business initiatives in subscription accounting systems, which involves requirement gathering, coordinating testing efforts across multiple Development teams and requires a strong understanding of GAAP accounting

  • Responsible for preparation of UAT and FIT testing support for new business initiatives

  • Support implementation of operational improvements by collaborating with the Development team to create and/or improve existing internal systems and processes

  • Support development and implementation of the new unified tech platform for streaming services

  • Responsible for revenue and cost monitoring in collaboration with the Development team and escalating issues independently

  • Assist with preparation of subscription revenue master data as needed

  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of process documentation for the subscription accounting cycle

  • Provide support for the annual financial statement audit, periodic internal audits, periodic programmer audits, and tax requests

  • Responsible for supporting the operational day-to-day accounting functions of our subscription business, including the preparation of month-end journal entries, reconciliations and preparing license fee calculations for our programming partners as needed

  • Support ad hoc analyses and projects

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field

  • 3 to 5 years accounting experience, Big Four public accounting firm preferred

  • CPA license preferred

  • Industry experience in media and/or entertainment preferred

The hiring range for this position in California is $101,790.00 to $124,410.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
