Amazon is currently hiring Chief Engineer (CE) to support our data centers. The CE is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, control and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The CE serves as a technical supervision to support Amazon within our data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. CE are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities. CE are the supervisors of the Engineering Operation Technicians to avoid any electrical and mechanical issues affecting Amazon's availability. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, switchboards/switch-gears, substations high, medium and low voltage, UPS’s, ATS´s, PDU’s, DAHU’s, DAHUs, AHU's, pumps, motors, VFD’s, CHILLERS, FFS and building automation systems such as BMS and EPMS.
Key job responsibilities
· Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in facility
· Operate independently with limited direct management
· Assist in the design and build out of new facilities
· Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the tech center and work OT hours as needed to support site stability
· Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
· Troubleshoot and report of facility and sever-level events within internal SLA
· Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams
· Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assisting in recruiting efforts for the same
· Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
· Utilize internal Change Management Systems to manage building workflows
· MV/LV Isolation to facilitate MV maintenance
· Provide metric availability reporting on a weekly basis
· Support all regions in the EMEA
· Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience
A day in the life
Operate independently with limited direct management.
Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
Drive projects with moderate complexity.
Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and responsible for working with Facility Manager (FM) to set team culture.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of Data Center Operations, or critical operations experience, or equivalent mission critical environment experience
In depth understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as: feeders, transformers, generators, switchgears, substations high, medium and low voltage, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units, CHILLERS
Familiar with BMS and EPMS control systems and data collection/trending
Proficient with maintenance management software (CMMS)
Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment
Ability to work on a rotating shift schedule, is a most.
Candidates should be able to lift up to 49 lbs and or work at heights and from ladders.
Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance
Must have the ability to read/write/speak/communicate fluently (English) with respect to complex technical instructions and concepts.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in applicable engineering field (mechanical or electrical)
Electrical or Mechanical
5+ years of Data Center experience or critical facilities
Bilingual, ability to read, understand and speak/communicate ideas with native speakers
American VISA desired

Own car for transfers between sites
