Job Summary:

The Technology and Product Development Innovation Coach will lead and support cross-functional teams specifically focused on technology, software, and product development initiatives. This role is pivotal in applying lean and agile methodologies to drive the development of innovative, market-ready technology solutions from initial concept through to investment readiness.

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate customer discovery sessions to deeply understand and document technology-specific customer needs and challenges.

  • Lead teams through customized sprint types tailored for technology and software development, including Concept Testing, Prototype Validation, and Business Model Innovation.

  • Ensure all team activities align with defined Investment Readiness Levels (IRLs), from initial assumption documentation to achieving a market-ready status.

  • Train and coach team members on Lean Innovation applied to technology, software and product development, including agile methodologies and lean principles.

  • Manage stakeholder engagement across technology and product development domains, ensuring effective communication and alignment with broader business objectives.

  • Oversee the integration of technical customer feedback into product development cycles, enhancing product functionality and user experience.

  • Develop and refine strategies for technology commercialization, assessing market viability and business impact.

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.

  • Recognize and anticipate organizational, operational, or process problems within the context of lean innovation frameworks.

  • Apply problem-solving knowledge effectively across diverse situations encountered during the lean innovation process.

  • Facilitate teams in identifying, analyzing, and resolving challenges through structured problem-solving methodologies.

  • Demonstrate adaptability in applying problem-solving techniques to suit the unique needs and constraints of different innovation projects.

Judgment and Decision Making:

Secures commitment for decisions by communicating clearly and credibly to stakeholders.

• Delegates responsibility for shaping plans through which decisions are executed.

• Monitors execution of decisions to ensure consistency with original intention.

Empowers employees to develop sound judgment by minimizing the consequences of failure.

Assumes the blame for unsuccessful decisions.

Shares the credit for successful decisions.

Project Management:

  • Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.

  • Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects.

  • Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.

  • Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.

  • Produces standard project status reports.

Lean Methodologies:

  • Possesses extensive knowledge of lean principles and methodologies tailored to technology and product development contexts.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in integrating lean principles into the organization's technology and product development processes.

  • Leads the adoption of lean methodologies across the organization's technology and product development functions, driving efficiency and innovation.

  • Educates and mentors teams on how lean principles can streamline technology and product development efforts, enhancing customer value and market competitiveness.

  • Advises on the application of lean approaches across different stages of technology and product development, fostering cross-functional collaboration and synergy.

  • Conducts comprehensive training sessions on key lean methodologies, measurements and equips teams with tools and techniques for measuring and improving performance in technology and product development.

  • Engages in detailed planning processes for implementing and monitoring lean initiatives in technology and product development, ensuring sustainable and impactful outcomes.

Additional Information

The locations for this position is Mossville, IL; Decatur, IL; Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL; Pontiac, IL; East Peoria, IL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position may require up to 25% travel.
