Technical Training Lead
Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is looking for a Technical Training Lead to join the Talent Development team. The Technical Training Lead focusing on Technical Services (LV/HV), role will spend time consulting with industry experts and internal subject matter experts to develop technical training material for classroom, e-Learning and virtual programs while managing these trainings within a Learning Management System and branch training locations across Canada.
This role will ensure that each employee has the right experience starting from their onboarding through to technical training and on-the-job training in the field. They will be responsible for contributing to the growth and development of all technical employees in Canada while building a technical training catalogue with support from SME's within the business.
This position will be located at our Oakville Head office.
What will do you as the Technical Training Lead?
Program management of the technical training catalogue for all Technical Services areas (LV/MV/HV) with some cross-functional training in Canadian Renewables
Program management of on-the-job training, mandatory compliance in partnership with Safety and execution of the training component as it relates to Early Talent and Apprentices within Spark
Strong relationship management with internal partners and external vendors and/or customers to successfully support our field technicians
Priority focus Low Voltage technical skills, support in building competency checks, processes and tracking of participation in training, trainees involvement and journeypersons/mentors ability and competence
Designing and implementation of technical training that optimizes the safety of our people and quality of our work
Develop a strategy for adequate knowledge transfer from internal subject matter experts to field staff
Coordinate with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify training gaps at locations across Canada
Design and develop assessments and other evaluation instruments.
Develop and track KPIs for talent development/management retention initiatives deployed across organization.
Partner with their team member and US counterpart within the business to ensure training needs align, training and skill gaps are identified and quality work is an output based on training strategies
Actively pursue information on new training ideas, strategies and trends that impact compliance and electrical safety.
Coordinate and communicate with Talent/HRBP teams and program participants to register, schedule and track participation in all training
Travel is required for hands-on training and auditing of programs (HSE and SME), branches and on-the-job training

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for:
10+ years of experience in the Electrical Industry with hands on technical experience in the field
309A or Master Electrician licenses and/or the High Voltage or Protection and Controls (Eng.) similar or equivalent certification
3-5 years of experience building and delivering technical training (Instructor Led and e-learning)
Experience facilitating training sessions, theoretical and hands-on
Instructional design or adult learning principles is preferred.
Ability to demonstrate experience in instructional design, including the development of classroom-based learning, e-learning, and blended learning solutions for a technical workforce.
Certification in Project Management an asset
Strong ability and understanding of the Electrical Safety Code, utility and other codes and regulations, standards and guidelines, safety records and technical literature/SOPs
Experience in event management/coordination is an asset
Experience working in complex de-centralized or matrix, multinational organizations is an asset
Experience working with learning management systems, content authoring tools, and MS Office suite is an asset
