Summary:

Enterprise Data Management team provides a wide range of data technology services including Data Warehouse, Data Cloud, Data Science, Data Governance, and Business Intelligence to the firm.

At the heart of the NB Data Cloud team's mission is the exploration and utilization of cutting-edge cloud database technologies, especially Snowflake, aiming to redefine data management practices. Our vision is to establish a secure, scalable, and cost-effective data platform that enables our business units to make data-driven decisions with confidence.

We're seeking an independent, proactive Data Engineer to join the Data Cloud team. This role involves crafting comprehensive end-to-end data pipelines, ensuring a deep understanding of the data prior to implementation, and maintaining open communication for assistance and idea sharing. This role is perfect for someone who values independence but also knows when to seek guidance, possesses excellent communication skills, and is driven to solve complex data problems through innovative solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with team members and stakeholders to understand business needs and technical requirements.

  • Analyze data and perform data modeling to create efficient tables and processes.

  • Build and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant data pipelines to empower our internal applications, operational workflows, and BI platforms.

  • Perform data cleaning, analysis, and feature engineering to improve the quality and usefulness of data.

  • Handle diverse data sources and types, ranging from Structured to Semi-Structured, ensuring seamless data integration.

  • Maintain high data quality standards in collaboration with the Data Governance Technology team (part of EDM team).

  • Follow Agile development practices with an emphasis on strategic planning and careful execution.

  • Support decision-making processes for stakeholders and leadership by effectively summarizing development and testing insights.

  • Lead efforts in optimization, testing, and tooling to continuously improve data quality.

  • Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle data challenges head-on.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical field.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Python and SQL.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, including but not limited to S3, Lambda, and Glue.

  • Experience with Snowflake or any cloud database technologies is most desired. Specifically, familiarity with Snowpark, Streaming, Dynamic Tables, and data ingestion within Snowflake.

  • Strong analytical skills for tackling business problems, conducting thorough business analyses, and performing adept data wrangling.

  • Experience in data testing and familiarity with related tools, along with solid unit testing and debugging skills.

  • Experience with implementing transformation processes using dbt, and using packages such as great expectations, dbt unit testing, or Automate DV.

  • Knowledge of Apache Spark or Databricks. (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of Data Warehouse design principles, including Dimensional Model and Data Vault 2.0. (preferred)

  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster. (Preferred)

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD and Azure DevOps. (Preferred)

Compensation Details

The salary range for this role is $110,000-$135,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), life insurance and other benefits to eligible employees.
