LinkedIn is looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager to work within LinkedIn's Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) program management team. The right candidate will have demonstrated solid leadership in leading teams and programs to deliver successful outcomes. This candidate is expected to perform using best practices for execution of our SRE projects as well as initiating, planning, and executing intermediate-to-large scale, cross functional, and company-wide critical programs.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent balance of people, organizational, and technical skills, and can execute and deliver successfully in situations where authority is not a given. Interaction and leadership across functional lines is essential.

At this level of professional development, the candidate will be able to concisely articulate all of the interactions and factors that contribute to the final outcome.

Team:

The Validation Engineering team builds high-quality deployment & infrastructure validation products and services to ensure the health and reliability of LinkedIn at scale and bring rigor into our development processes. Our products empower LinkedIn engineers to deliver value to members at a high velocity and without defects. We strive to prevent these defects early in the SDLC process, automating solutions to mitigate issues on behalf of engineers when possible. In addition, our metrics have high visibility across R&D and are leveraged by the lines of business to drive long-term strategy and investment in their organizations.

As a Staff TPM on the Validation Engineering team, you will be responsible for driving the cross-functional programs developing these cutting-edge software delivery products & platforms in addition to shaping the strategy and vision of the TPM organization as LinkedIn’s business and technology landscapes evolve and shift. You will work closely with engineers and partners from all parts of the company, from product to infrastructure and more.

This role will be based in Mountain View, CA.

Responsibilities:

• Provide clarity on product program objectives, ensuring that roles and responsibilities are well understood and address any conflict in a timely manner with minimal direction and assistance from management.

• Interact with executive sponsors and change agents to identify scope, requirements, and manage projects throughout the entirety of the project lifecycle.

• Facilitate and drive large cross-functional projects, serve the needs of multiple stakeholders within a complex multi-faceted organization, and manage that strategy through to completion.

• Apply formal change management practices that ensure that product programs are baselined at kickoff and all changes are thoroughly reviewed for justification impact to the program and have received appropriate approvals.

• Anticipate product program risks and issues and work to provide resolutions which ensure that stakeholder expectations are set appropriately.

• Effectively communicate information to diverse audiences including translating subject matter terminology into clear business terms and program relevance.

• Facilitate straightforward decisions from complex situations that keep teams and projects moving forward.

• Establish and manage end-to-end processes with various stakeholders in collecting, evaluating and fulfilling their requirements.

• Demonstrate data analysis expertise to develop and communicate meaningful insights, define metrics, and make recommendations on key infrastructure scaling initiatives.

• Deliver solution design specifications and technical requirements for the development and improvement of capacity planning tools and automation.

• Apply business acumen to formulate practical and effective program management approaches to identify optimization opportunities, influence business partners, and drive effective decision making.

• Conduct “what-if” simulations and proactively identify potential capacity issues and partner with product and service owners to minimize risk and reduce cost-to-serve.

• Build and deliver impactful presentations that tell a persuasive story with convictive insights, not just data.

• Manage executive project expectations including owning escalation, communication, and exec level interaction on critical strategic projects for the company.

Basic Qualifications:

• B.S./B.A. Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

• 5+ years professional experience in Technical Program and Product management, including feature development, roadmap management and experience in Agile Methods within an SRE or infrastructure team

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of technical leadership with a track record of operating independently, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner.

• Demonstrated understanding of technology-based product lifecycle management including development launch and management phases and primary roles/responsibilities and deliverables of key organizational functions.

• Exceptional analytic skills to translate requirements and designs into successful action plans.

• Experience leading large dynamic programs and projects with cross-functional matrixed resources working in a fast paced collaborative environment.

• Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders set direction and approach mobilize and motivate teams and execute with limited information and ambiguity.

• Proven problem-solving skills to anticipate the risks of non-performance and incorporate prevention and remediation measures within the implementation plan.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively across different functions and optimally influence senior business partners.

• Demonstrated conflict resolution skills combined with strong negotiation ability delivered with a high level of influence and professionalism.

• Strong attention to detail with excellent time management skills.

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

The pay range for this role is $131,000 to $215,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
