Receives work assignment; secures drawing, reads and interprets process drawing for sequence of operations, tools, type of set up, fixture, load programs, monitors and qualifies machining requirements such as feeds, speeds, dimensions, tolerances, etc.; obtains and returns tools, fixtures, etc. as required; keeps cutting tools in proper working condition. Selects appropriate collet, chuck, and/or fixtures as prescribed on process sheet, sets piece in machine or with aid of cab or floor operated overhead crane or hoist; inserts appropriate cutting tools in their proper stations in turret and cross slide tool posts, turret, tool changer, as prescribed on process sheet and Operates CNC Machine adjusts flow of control; observes operations closely, checks dimensions, and adjusts as needed. Monitors program speeds, feeds, number of cuts, dry runs, and prove-out programs. Works in conjunction with Manufacturing Support Department to develop processes, programs and process sheets. Occasionally operates machine under keyboard or manual control when necessary. Edits program when required. Closely observes operations to detect trouble through warning indicator lights on control console in programming or errors in machine command, sequence, or electrical malfunction. Removes piece from machine, identifies parts by engraving or stamping, cleans out chips, and sets aside to remove burrs. Monitors very close tolerance machining operations such as drilling, forming, turning, facing, threading, reaming, chamfering, tapping, cut off, etc. on parts. Lubricates machine as needed.
