Emerson Comprador MRO Sr. Adv. in MEXICALI, Mexico

In this role your responsibilities will be:

  • Identifying and sourcing MRO materials as spare parts, tools, consumables (like lubricants), office supplies, safety equipment, and any other items required for maintenance, repair, and daily operations of the maquiladora.

  • Requesting for quotations (RFQs): Issuing requests for quotations to potential suppliers to acquire driven pricing and product information.

  • Evaluating and selecting suppliers: Analyzing supplier responses based on factors like price, quality, delivery lead time, reliability, and warranty terms. Choosing the most suitable supplier for each MRO requirement.

  • Negotiating favorable terms with suppliers regarding price, payment schedules, and delivery terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely deliveries.

  • Placing PO's to selected suppliers for the required MRO materials.

  • Monitoring inventory levels: Regularly supervising inventory levels to proactively anticipate inventory shortages or excess inventory and taking corrective actions (ordering more materials or disposing of excess) as needed.

  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities: Constantly seeking opportunities to reduce procurement costs through methods like negotiating better pricing with suppliers, exploring different materials, or optimizing inventory management.

  • Maintaining accurate records of MRO purchases and inventory levels.

  • Working with internal collaborators (maintenance teams, production teams) to get to know their requirements.

For this Role, You Will need:

A combination of skills and knowledge in procurement, inventory management, supplier relationships, and the specific needs of a metalworking environment.

  • Understand the procurement process, including requesting quotes (RFQs), evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and placing purchase orders.

  • Knowledge of inventory control principles to maintain efficient stock levels, minimize costs, and prevent obsolescence.

  • Familiarity with the various MRO materials used in a metal mechanical setting, including spare parts, tools, consumables, lubricants, and safety equipment.

  • Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with internal teams (maintenance, production) and external suppliers.

  • The ability to work effectively with internal teams to understand their MRO needs and ensure everyone is aligned on procurement goals.

  • Identify and resolve procurement challenges, such as unexpected shortage supplier performance issues, or fluctuating market prices.

  • Strong organizational skills and effective time management are essential to ensure all procurement needs are met efficiently.

  • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems can be helpful (Oracle is highly desirable.

  • Find opportunities to save money through better pricing, alternative materials, or optimized inventory management.

Preferred Qualifications that set you apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International business, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related areas.

  • Proven experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.

  • Knowledge of MRP systems.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

  • Communication skills both, in English and Spanish.
