Robert Half Staff Accountant in Menlo Park, California

Description We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant role in the non-profit industry, located in Menlo Park, California. The position involves maintaining accurate financial records and preparing journal entries, among other accounting tasks. The successful candidate will be tasked with performing account analysis, preparing account reconciliations, and taking part in month-end closing activities.

Responsibilities:

• Perform account analysis and prepare journal entries with precision

• Prepare account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance

• Conduct month-end closing activities and adjusting entries

• Carry out bank reconciliations for multiple accounts

• Prepare trial balance to ensure accuracy of financial information

• Generate necessary reports as required

• Work with fixed assets and maintain depreciation schedules

• Prepare various types of tax returns including sales, state, property, excise, payroll, corporate or partnership

• Collaborate with auditors and play an active role in audit processes

• Utilize various software and spreadsheet programs to manage high volume transactions and read formulas

• Manage intercompany transactions and ensure proper communication between different levels within the organization

• Display excellent written communication skills while dealing with executives, managers, and peers

• Demonstrate a high level of accountability in completing transactions

• Perform variance analysis and other duties related to month-end close activities

• Utilize skills in Microsoft Excel, General Ledger, Flux Analysis, Accruals, Intercompany Accounting, Variance Analysis, and Journal Entries. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of accounting, preferably within the non-profit sector

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Extensive experience with General Ledger, Intercompany Accounting, and Journal Entries

• Demonstrated ability in Flux Analysis, Accruals, Variance Analysis, and Month-end Close Activities

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is desirable

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulations is a plus
