PMCM is a brand-new discipline in WSP UK. It covers a broad range of project-related services, including project management, portfolio management and programme management, cost management, commercial management, construction management, and building surveying. It also features a major project, multi-disciplinary design management capability.

With a strong track record serving clients from across industry’s including Water, Energy, Defence and Transportation our new PMCM discipline has big ambitions to become a market leader for this offering across the UK. We’re looking to grow the business with capable, energised and professional expertise across all our major offices.

We are looking for people with the potential to make a difference, pro-actively manage requirements, budgets, schedules and risks and influence others to deliver successfully. Candidates must have excellent communication, problem solving and commercial/contract management skills and be willing to take on new challenges and possess experience in the leadership and management of significant and complex projects or programmes of work.

As an Assistant Commercial Manager delivering in a multi-functional commercial management consultancy team within projects of different disciplines and complexities, you will have hands-on experience of working with client teams in a collaborative and integrated manner. You will be required to support on all commercial aspects of our projects following the requirements of the WSP Business Management System, as well as to meet client requirements. Experience of working within the Energy, Defence, Rail or Water industries (with major UK client organisations) is essential and the use of the client systems and processes will be highly advantageous.

  • Assisting the Commercial Team in their duties by providing support to project delivery teams

  • Support with prospects, inflight and post-contract commercial activities

  • Assist in drafting and reviewing contractual documents in line with corporate governance.

  • Working alongside key stakeholders to resolve commercial issues.

  • Providing commercial advice and interpreting contractual documents.

  • Degree, in relevant engineering or management discipline.

  • Chartered (or approaching) Membership of a relevant professional body.

  • Working knowledge of NEC 3/4 Contract Administration

  • Experience delivering into major projects

  • Experience with major UK clients in a consultancy environment

  • Strong customer and stakeholder management relationships, effective listening and influencing skills

  • Naturally curious, solution focussed and responsive to client problems

  • Experience of delivering value plus/cross selling of services
