GE Vernova Quality Engineer Intern in Lisburn, United Kingdom

Job Description Summary

This 1-year internship will be based at the GE Vernova Grid Solutions Asset Monitoring site in Lisburn, Northern Ireland and is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic university student or recent graduate who is interested in a Quality Engineer / Continuous Improvement role.

The successful applicant will work within the Global Supply Chain team on manufacture of transformer sensor equipment for dissolved gas analysis (DGA).

The candidate will leverage best practice quality tools and methodologies in a cross-functional environment for Continuous Improvement of product quality through problem resolution and the development of quality processes and evaluation tools.

The Asset Monitoring product line is a class leading vendor of sensing devices and systems to electrical utilities and industrial customers. The product line spans sensing of multiple asset types and has a broad portfolio of advanced technology, which aid customers to understand and optimise the operating condition of key assets such as HV/MV power transformers and circuit breakers. Our products include the Kelman DGA900 and Hydran M2-X.

Job Description

Role responsibilities

  • Evaluation of existing processes and implementation of improvements.

  • Improvement and development of tools for data interpretation (MS Excel/Access/PowerBI).

  • Reporting of quality metrics to support production process improvements.

  • Quality defect containment & root cause investigation.

  • Supporting the Production Quality team with part inspection and fault investigations.

  • Quality Project planning and execution.

  • Supporting Supplier Quality investigations and resolution of nonconformities.

  • Other continuous improvement activities.

Essential criteria:

  • Demonstrated years of experience in an Engineering (preferably Electronic, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial) or relevant related degree.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.

  • Good level of communication skills including data presentation and report writing with accuracy and an eye for detail.

  • Ability to work in a team environment on multiple projects with strict completion deadlines.

  • Demonstrated capability in time management and prioritisation of tasks.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous industrial work experience.

  • Experience at programming in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerBI.

  • Drive to develop a quality culture.

  • The required skill base is in line with that expected of an undergraduate or graduate; candidates should be engaging, imaginative, and willing for professional development.
