DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of your role, you are responsible for inspecting different stages of transportation construction work. This includes checking grades, elevations, and stakeouts. You will also inspect the placement of materials like concrete and drainage materials. Additionally, you will conduct compaction testing of sub-surface strata, soils, and aggregate using a visual non-movement method. In addition to inspections, you will also have the task of communicating with various stakeholders. This includes Department staff, agencies, legislators, and the general public. Your goal is to ensure effective project administration. Furthermore, you are responsible for completing and performing various tasks such as diary entries, calculations, cost estimates, and project documentation. You also play a role in resolving any field problems that may arise during the construction process.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
