Cardiac Cath Tech Float WPOD

Medical City Healthcare - Division Float Pool

12 week assignments

WPOD Locations: Alliance, Arlington, Decatur, Fort Worth, Las Colinas, North Hills, Weatherford

4 shifts/pay period (12 hour shift)

Rate: $54/hour

2 Weekend Shift per 4-Week Schedule:

Friday night, Saturday day and night, and Sunday day and night shifts.

2 On-Call Shift per 4-Week Schedule

On-call per facility requirements during schedule period assigned to include holidays if required.

Holidays: 1 Major and 1 Minor

Major Holidays-Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

Minor Holidays—Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Valentine’s Day, Halloween

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technician, under the supervision of the Supervisor of the Cardiac Cath Lab and Director of CV Services, is responsible for performing the daily operations for the Cardiac Cath Lab. The Cardiovascular Technician is responsible for direct and indirect patient care, for scrubbing diagnostic and interventional cases and hemodynamic monitoring. Other departmental duties as assigned that actively support process improvements in the Cardiac Cath Lab Follow established standards and practices under the direction of a credentialed invasive cardiologist, or credentialed invasive radiologist.

What You Will Do In This Role:

  • Follows patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment and adherence to isolation procedures.

  • Follows department policies and protocols for safety in Cardiac Cath Lab.

  • Supports the HCA code of conduct. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with organization mission and goals.

  • Use hemodynamic & EKG monitoring, including interpretation of data. Scrub assist for all diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures along with Interventional radiology procedures. This includes preparation of supplies and instruments, preparation and maintenance of the sterile field, preparation and manipulation of cardiac/interventional radiology catheters, guidewires, and devices.

  • Documentation of procedures and patient information according to hospital policy.

  • Assist to coordinate procedure schedule as assigned.

  • May serve as lead tech with responsible to include daily orchestrating of cases, working with physician, and other department to maximize patient scheduling.

  • Promotes consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.

  • Demonstrates caring and empathy in all interactions and advocates for patient- and family-centered approach in all decisions and actions.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including active listening. Ensures patients, physicians, and colleagues have a clear understanding of all communications.

  • Engages in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.

  • Participates as an active member of the health care team and positively promotes the rest of the team to patients/families/caregivers and other colleagues.

  • Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behaviors consistent with established policies/procedures.

  • Uses job knowledge and proficiency of skills to successfully assist in orientation of new employees.

  • Shares new knowledge with peers and mentors those with less experience.

  • Attends and actively participates in unit meetings.

  • Seeks opportunities to impact the growth of the organization by promoting excellence in patient experience and providing high quality care to the patients served.

  • Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas.

  • Fulfills the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth.

  • Creates and implements a personal career development plan, reviewed regularly by supervisor and/or preceptor.

  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste of time and/or supplies, and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.

  • Assist with inventory control as directed by the Supervisor / Director

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”

  • All positions at Medical City Denton are part of an interdisciplinary team, and, as such, participate in the care and service delivery process through effective interaction with other team members.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support

  • Associate Degree

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
