Educational and Experience Requirement: Associates Degree in related field. Three years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Nature and Purpose of Position: Performs advanced administrative assistant duties for the Finance and Banking programs.

Primary Responsibilities: Performs complex administrative assistant duties for the chair and faculty of the Finance and Banking programs. Assists the Chair in handling and processing the course scheduling. Creates semester schedules and assists in schedule maintenance and alterations. Processes and verifies student and faculty scheduling requests. Assists the Chair with student registration issues. Manages the textbook adoption process for the department. Receives, reviews, and processes faculty travel. Maintains a record of travel in compliance with the budget. Processes reimbursements and payments when necessary. Receives and screens visitors through phone calls and personal interactions whilst prioritizing their needs. Assists students, faculty, and SHSU employees with daily needs and concerns. Assists in the logistics of the department, such as ordering supplies and providing maintenance for office equipment. Organizes and reconciles P-Card departmental purchases. Creates and maintains Electronic Personnel Action Forms for faculty and student workers. Manages faculty contracts and new hire paperwork. Verifies accuracy of Electronic Personnel Action Forms. Reviews and edits faculty workload reports each semester. Supervises and Oversees the hiring of student workers and graduate assistants. Coordinates and organizes yearly scholarship disbursement and departmental awards. Acts as liaison with other areas of the University. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications: Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature.

*Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
