ITW Low Force Test Technician in High Wycombe, United Kingdom

Job purpose

The purpose of this role is to assemble and test the full range of Low Force Hydraulic machines within a high technological environment, working to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and schematic drawings to achieve Instron’s high quality standards .To provide a focused and flexible working approach in order to meet customer requirements - both internal and external. The role will also liaise with Operational Engineering to enhance and improve existing products and manufacturing efficiencies.

Key Competencies (includes skills):

  • Basic PC literacy including familiarity with MS Office and the ability to work with Instron’s business management systems (IFS, AGILE etc.)

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences – both written and verbal - in an effective, prompt and timely manner.

  • Proven interpersonal skills with ability to work as part of a team and to operate independently

  • Demonstrates attention to detail to ensure business needs are achieved in terms of ‘right first time’ and ‘on – time customer delivery’

  • An analytical and logical approach to problem solving, both product and process based and logging of data test results.

Demonstrates practical dexterity within an engineering environment with a ‘Can Do’ attitude and capacity for further development.

Key KPIs/other performance measurements

  • Right first time build and test processes to achieve and improve product throughput.

  • Flexible working methodology resulting in lead time reduction of product and meeting customer expectations.

  • Ownership of line side stock and replenishment processes including Kan Ban and FIFO.

  • Use of departmental document to ensure product repeatability and revision control.

  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and tidy working environment, adhering to all Health & Safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications of A-C level in Maths, English and a Science based subject , or

  • HNC /level 4 (previous experience will be considered)in Engineering based subject i.e. Electrical, Mechanical or Process Engineering, or

  • Experience working within an Electromechanical manufacturing environment with Process improvement understanding i.e. Lean manufacturing, 5s

Key Experiences

  • Familiarity with test and measurement equipment i.e. DVM’s, oscilloscopes, Vernier’s and micrometers.

  • Ability to interpret test results and ensure data integrity using computerised test equipment and programs.

  • Experience of project management or inventory management would be beneficial.

Working conditions

  • Standard factory working environment with temperature and noise fluctuation.

  • Requirement for adhering to anti –static procedures with exposure to high voltage test equipment.

  • Flexible start and finish times can be negotiated.
