Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Black Bear Biologist (Wildlife Biologist 2) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a dedicated professional for the position of Wildlife Biologist 2. Working out of our Harrisburg Headquarters, the selected individual will be responsible for managing the statewide black bear program. Join us in our mission to maintain healthy black bear populations in suitable habitats throughout the Commonwealth.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK In the role of Wildlife Biologist 2, you will coordinate and manage the PA Game Commission's statewide black bear program. This black bear biologist is responsible for black bear research, management, population monitoring, and outreach statewide. You will have the opportunity to serve as principal investigator for black bear studies, as well as the agency's technical advisor on black bears in Pennsylvania.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 45-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Wildlife Biologist 1 (commonwealth title); or Six years of experience conducting wildlife management research, including two years in a professional capacity, and thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field and six college credits in statistics or biometry; or Two years of professional experience conducting wildlife management research and a bachelor's degree that includes thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, zoology, or a closely related field and six college credits in statistics or biometry.

Special Requirement: You must possess a valid driver's license, which is not under suspension.

Other Requirements: This particular position also requires possession of a master's degree with a major in wildlife management and a minimum of one year of full-time experience in bear research or management. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
