What you will do

As a Specialist Engineer for Performance Development & Testing, you will be responsible for powertrain testing and calibration of heavy-duty engines for MACK and Volvo Group Trucks North American applications. This includes testing and calibration of engine performance and emissions control systems, as well as on-board diagnostic (OBD) algorithms of powertrain systems. This role will require time spent in engine test cells, chassis dynamometer and on-road vehicle testing. Every day is challenging in our team, and tasks will be assigned based on your ability to deliver.

Some examples of typical responsibilities in our group include:

• Operation of world-class heavy-duty engine & chassis dynamometer test cells. Responsible for efficiently and accurately executing test procedures while concurrently reviewing testing results to ensure reliability of data

• Calibration of engine control system parameters

• Communication with technicians and senior engineers is required to coordinate activities from multiple stakeholders and insure requirements are clearly defined and tests meet objectives

• Performing testing to achieve product certification and confirm compliance for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resource Board (CARB) for powertrain emissions and OBD

• Potential for domestic and international travel to support troubleshooting customer trucks in service, participate in expeditions such as summer, cold weather and high altitude chassis testing

• Analyzing data from trucks in the field to assist in all aspects of product development, from setting advanced engineering goals to helping resolve customer product quality issues

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred

• 8-12+ years of related experience including 3-5+ years' experience in powertrain calibration

• Powertrain (Engine, Transmission, Axle, Aftertreatment) knowledge

• Knowledge and experience in statistical analysis of data
