Select Genetics Back Crew - Hatchery Worker in Goldsboro, North Carolina

This position is responsible for routine processing of eggs and day-old poults in the Hatchery while maintaining a clean work environment.

The Back Crew Laborer is responsible for:

  • Transferring eggs from incubators to hatchers;

  • Ensuring the initial pull of hatched poults from the hatchers to forward to the Service Room;

  • Assisting as needed with the count of poults hatched;

  • Assisting as needed in all departments as needed to keep production running;

  • Preparing the pull order for the following day;

  • Running and monitoring the tray washer;

  • Cleaning and disinfecting racks and hatchers with appropriate chemicals;

  • Assisting maintenance with unloading deliveries of supplies;

  • Lifting crates or boxes weighing up to 50 pounds;

  • Pushing or pulling up to 150lbs. with assistance;

  • Following all animal welfare and biosecurity protocols and procedures of the department during production.

  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment at all times;

    Requirements:

  • High School diploma is preferred;

  • Prior experience with animals or hatchery preferred;

  • Ability to communicate verbally and listening with others - Bilingual Spanish speaking ability desired;

  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment;

  • Ability to perform job duties while wearing Personal Protective Equipment required of the position.

    Additional work requirements: frequent bending, standing, and walking. Work is subject to tight deadlines and interruptions.  The work environment includes exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes and varying temperatures. Back Crew Laborer must be physically able to lift and/or push and handle up to 50 lbs. frequently during the day. Transfer Crew Laborer can be asked to train in multiple departments and rotate departments based on Company’s needs.
