Data Privacy Analyst

Delivers specific delegated tasks assigned by a supervisor in the Compliance job family. Supports product development/maintenance activity, providing highly technical advice on language and regulatory issues. Responsible for accomplishing all language development, issue resolution, regulatory approval and implementation in connection with the organizations products. Works on special projects. Participates in a core group of individuals from quality, medical and operations to craft new policies, procedure, and communications materials together. Acts as compliance subject matter expert, adding compliance language. Completes day-to-day Compliance tasks without immediate supervision, but has ready access to advice from more experienced team members. Tasks involve a degree of forward planning and anticipation of needs/issues. Resolves non-routine issues escalated from more junior team members.

Job Description

· To provide expert-level regulatory advice and support primarily to management of Cigna’s Europe & Global Segments Business (“EGS”) on all matters of data protection impacting current and planned future business activities primarily but not exclusively focused on GDPR.

· To provide GDPR data protection input to a range of business-led projects and initiatives across International Markets, as well as supporting management (with the support of internal and/or external specialists where appropriate) with the implementation of any potential regulatory change in any jurisdiction. Support the maintenance and embedding of the EGS Compliance Policy Framework and a positive compliance culture in relation to data protection, with the fair treatment of customers at the heart.

· Establish and execute appropriate mechanisms to test the continued effectiveness of the arrangements in place to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance in the field of data protection. Provide input to the development and review of the annual compliance plan with regard to data protection matters to ensure it remains aligned to the key regulatory risks impacting Cigna’s businesses.

RELATIONSHIPS:

· Working as part of the EGS Legal and Compliance team, the role holder will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including senior managers throughout EGS.

· Maintain effective working relationships with compliance colleagues throughout EGS and more broadly across International Markets, including the International Privacy Office and Cigna Enterprise Compliance.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in a data protection function within a financial services organisation, ideally within health or general insurance that has a multinational focus.

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent).

  • Sound understanding of the European regulatory landscape in the field of data protection, and ideally across several jurisdictions across Europe.

  • Strong practical knowledge of principles, rules and guidance relating specifically to data protection.

  • Highly developed and confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, exhibiting good questioning and listening skills.

  • Consultative, approachable and persistent. Naturally curious, good at probing facts, and challenging assumptions.

  • Able to build excellent working relationships with all levels of the business through effective stakeholder management, whilst also having the ability to challenge and exert influence.

  • Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.

  • Acts with high levels of integrity and high levels of personal and professional ethics and impartiality, displaying an open and trustworthy attitude.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving ability; able to analyse and draw conclusions from a range of quantitative and qualitative information / data.

  • Practical knowledge and capability with using Microsoft Office products.

  • Self-motivated and confident working on own initiative as well as part of a team

  • Naturally proactive, with a bias towards driving continuous improvement activity.

Desirable

  • Effectively able to undertake peer group comparisons and report on business practices against regulatory requirements in the field of data protection, identifying areas which impact on the customer and/or business.

  • To hold, or be working towards, an industry recognised qualification in data protection.

  • A knowledge and understanding of insurance and / or healthcare products.

  • A good knowledge of internal systems and controls that apply to a regulated environment.
