Talbot County Public Schools Executive Assistant to Superintendent in Easton, Maryland

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED Certificate (two years of applicable college or business school is preferred).
  2. Thorough knowledge of office procedures.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  4. Proficient Computer skills (e.g. Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc., and Google Drive and other associated Google apps)
  5. Proficiency in both written and oral English usage and proofreading.
  6. Ability to coordinate workload to meet established schedules/deadlines.
  7. Demonstrates ability to make decisions, to work under pressure and to exercise good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in performance of duties.
  8. Demonstrates pleasant and cooperative attitude
  9. Demonstrates good attendance record
  10. Ability to work independently
  11. Exhibits leadership skills in performing all tasks and duties.
  12. Works collaboratively with other departments and schools.

REPORTS TO:Superintendent

JOB GOAL:This position reports directly to the Superintendent in support ofplanningtheir daily operations. The designated scope of work is related directly to the success of the Superintendents Office including the Cabinet team and Board of Education. This requires a key focus on relationship building with district employees, community members, key stakeholders, and board members. Daily tasks will vary in complexity with a primary focus on the success of the Superintendents office.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support the Superintendent in various daily operations including, but not exclusive to, calendar management, creating and reviewing documents, reviewing content prior to distribution, managing phone calls, greeting in-person visitors etc., as the direct representative of the superintendent
  2. Manages all fiscal, legal, legislative, and confidential matters related to the Superintendents office
  3. Manages leadership retreats, events, and other planning and facilitation as directed by the Superintendent
  4. Managing parent and community communications intended for the Superintendent including phone calls and email correspondence which may require a heightened level of attention and care.
  5. Serve as the liaison between the Board of Education and the Superintendent
  6. Board of Education tasks include, attend and prepare for all work sessions and board meetings; managing meals for the BOE, organization of training, meetings, recognitions, and the overall organizational success of board meetings.
  7. Works closely with the district receptionist in order to assure the continuing success of the Superintendents Office.
  8. May attend meetings on behalf of the Superintendent and as directed by the Superintendent
  9. Maintains the same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about the school system and its operation as expected of all professional personnel.A breach of confidentiality may cause immediate termination.
  10. Performs other tasks and duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements of this job may require frequent talking, sitting, lifting, and standing.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Exempt position. Twelve (12) month employment.
