Robert Half Property Accountant in Columbia, Maryland

Description

We are offering a part time contract to hire employment opportunity for a Property Accountant in the Real Estate & Property industry. The role is based in COLUMBIA, Maryland. The Property Accountant will be responsible for a variety of financial analysis and accounting support tasks, reporting to the Portfolio Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough financial analysis of data, including revenue, expenses, and other key metrics to evaluate property performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts, providing input and recommendations based on financial trends and historical data.

• Prepare regular financial reports such as monthly profit and loss statements, variance analyses, and other performance metrics for management review.

• Analyze lease agreements to understand financial implications, including rent escalations, lease renewals, and other terms impacting property revenue.

• Perform account reconciliations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and company policies.

• Monitor expenses and identify areas where cost savings can be achieved, providing recommendations to improve financial efficiency.

• Ensure financial transactions adhere to company policies and industry regulations, supporting audit processes and compliance requirements.

• Collaborate with property management and other teams on financial aspects of projects, providing analysis and insights to support decision-making.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for analysis and reporting.

Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Property Accounting or a related field.

• Proficient in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Microsoft Excel.

• Demonstrated knowledge of Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Familiarity with Budget Processes is a must.

• Able to handle Cash Activity and perform Property Management Accounting.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Familiarity with real estate and property industry regulations and guidelines.
