Finance Manager

A non-profit client of ours is looking for a Finance Manager for a contract role. As the Finance Manager you will be responsible for the overall oversight of the finance, accounting, and reporting activities. You will also play a key role in building out departmental controls, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded in a timely manner, and working closing with the Director of Finance & Administration to support the presentation of the financials.

Responsibilities of Finance Manager

• Review & approve the daily operations of the Accounting Coordinator.

• Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.

• Assist Director of Finance in the budget & planning process; administer and review financial plans.

• Manage, track, & reconcile the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.

• Oversee project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.

• Work with Director of Finance & Administration to establish a Balance Sheet reconciliation process and take ownership of the process.

• Coordinate with the Accounting Coordinator and Director of Finance & Administration.

• Aid, provide backup support, and training (as necessary) to the Accounting Coordinator.

• Assist the Director of Finance & Administration in the Accounting system ERP & CRM project review.

• Provide support in the budgeting and forecasting process.

• Support the Director of Finance & Administration in preparing the financial packet for the board, audit, and finance committees.

• Assist in the development of departmental training manuals, controls, and monthly closing procedures.

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting to ensure compliance with GAAP and fund-based accounting standards & regulatory requirements.

• Requirements

Skills/Qualifications of Finance Manager

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred

• Proven experience as a Finance Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years of experience

• Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and analysis software

• Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders

• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
