Caterpillar Inc. has an exciting position for a Product Support Account Manager within our National Accounts team.

Role Summary: This position will support specific Building Construction Products (BCP), national account customers headquartered in the Western Region (U.S.) through the development of sound business relationships and providing after-sales support, ensuring that customers receive the Caterpillar brand value.

What You Will Do

  • Develop effective relationships with multiple assigned national account customers, through customer site visits and regular interactions with key stakeholders.

  • Work closely with Senior Account Managers (sales) and Caterpillar Dealers to develop and grow prime product, parts, and product support strategies.

  • Work with product group teams to develop and implement product support solutions for national account customers, as well as securing commitment of Caterpillar and Dealer resources to assure continued customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Administers goodwill to support Caterpillar products owned by assigned national account customers.

  • Provide leadership on behalf of the National Accounts Team to communicate top commercial issues back to the product group teams.

  • Lead customer specific product problem management meetings to assure channels are established to communicate significant product issues.

  • Lead the development and execution of aftermarket projects to support the growth of aftermarket and service solutions.

  • Perform training with national account customers on product support and service solutions.

  • Monitors and ensures product improvement program completion of national account customers’ fleets.

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through field follow placement with national account customers.

  • Provides consultation to national accounts on fleet management best practices, maintenance & repair best practices, technology solutions, and rebuild solutions.

What you Have (Skills, Knowledge and Experience)

  • Customer Focus : Establish high-level relationships with business decision makers and identify business needs and problems. Consult with dealers and districts on the subject of service support of product for “national account” customers.

  • Industry Knowledge: Significant previous field or dealer-facing experience with positions aligned to either Technical Representative or Technical Support Representative or similar role in a different industry or company. Take steps necessary to assure product health to maintain and enhance sales growth.

  • Critical Thinking Skills: Ability to gain thorough understanding of Caterpillar company policies, procedures, and service-related systems.

  • Effective Communication : Must communicate effectively across product, industry, dealer and/or customer audiences to gain understanding and acceptance of ideas and recommendations.

  • Relationship Management: Strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, financial acumen, and the ability to manage in a diverse and often contentious environment. Must have the ability to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with the appropriate influence and ability to resolve differences.

  • Account Management: Knowledge and understanding of Dealer networks and thorough understanding of the working partnerships. Ability to manage day-to-day activities, providing support to current and future clients.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Business, or Marketing.

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar Building Construction Products (BCP) equipment or other industry-related knowledge.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex assignments.

Additional Details:

  • The preferred work location for this role is Denver, CO or Boise, ID. Other locations where Caterpillar facilities exist and are within the territory may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but relocation assistance is available to Denver or Boise only.

  • The territory for this role includes the Western Region (U.S.), including the states of WA, OR, CA, ID, WY, ND, SD, MN, WI, IL, IN, MI, NE, IA, MO, MT, NV, NM, UT, CO, AZ, AK, HI.

  • Requires travel (35-50% of the time) to customer job sites to understand customer specific product problems and to meet with key customer personnel.

  • A company vehicle is not provided for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$123,480.00 - $185,280.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
