Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Deputy Network Engineering Manager to support our organization's Infrastructure Engineering team. In this role you will lead a team of Network Engineers who are responsible for supporting the Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) team and for providing support to the Network Engineering Manager who is responsible for the management of a highly available MPLS Service Provider based network.

Work Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

HOW A NETWORK MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Manage Engineering team performance in areas of incident management, problem management, project support and Tier III escalation

  • Support network service restoration when services are interrupted or degraded

  • Provide technical leadership in lifecycle engineering activities (design, develop, test, implement, maintain) for new and existing capabilities in an enterprise environment with on-premises and cloud-integrated systems, applications and infrastructure for customer strategic initiatives

  • Provide oversight and quality control for engineering change management following the established change and configuration management policies and processes to provide seamless integration with the existing infrastructure as delegated by the Engineering Manager

  • Life cycle device management of network infrastructure devices

  • Monitor industry technology advancements and propose infrastructure enhancements that will provide new functionality, improved availability, performance, or efficiency

  • Produce weekly activity reports and monthly status reports, including accomplishments, planned activities, performance

  • Support client leadership decision making

  • Support technology roadmap development activities

  • Support the development of documentation required to transition network infrastructure solutions to the Operations team.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Required Experience: 15 years related experience

Technical Skills:

  • 15 years of experience working in network services supporting routing and switching in LAN/WAN, Data Center, and Wireless environments

  • Minimum of 10 years of supervisory or managerial experience in an enterprise network or datacenter

Security Clearance : Must be able to obtain and maintain a NIH Public Trust NACI (T1)

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to explain and elaborate technical details

  • Ability to self-direct and take initiative

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced IT environment

Preferred Skills:

  • CCNA/CCDA/CCNP/CCDP certifications in Routing and Switching, Service Provider, Data Center, or Wireless

  • Experience configuring and implementing network segmentation, including VLANs and MPLS

  • Experience with multiple end-system operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and Apple IOS

Location: Hybrid – Must be able to work onsite two days a week

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
