Johns Hopkins University Research Program Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to work under the direct supervision of the Research Program Manager to assist with reporting and manuscript preparation and day-to-day logistical and operational tasks of multiple research studies in the Department. Will work on research studies including but not limited to respiratory viruses, diagnostics (traumatic brain injury) and public health surveillance projects.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.

  • Adheres to all protocol requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.

  • With assistance, prepares and submits annual renewal requests, amendments and adverse event reports with clinical input according to IRB and Sponsor requirements.

  • Verifies patient eligibility by comparing patient history with protocol requirements.

  • Assists with recruiting, screening and enrolling study participants for multiple studies.

  • Collects and processes respiratory and blood samples from ED and hospitalized patients

  • Collects, enters, and compiles clinical data from a variety of sources.

  • Schedules and conducts in-person, remote and/or phone follow-up visits.

  • Meets regularly with research team to review data accuracy and overall study progress.

  • Participates in development, testing and evaluation of manuals, participant surveys, coding structures, for efficient collection of data.

  • Assist with quality control and data accuracy reviews for internal/external audits.

  • Maintains paper and computerized research files for various studies.

  • Collaborates with Research Program Manager in preparation and tracking of financial documents, such as activity budgets and related documents.

  • Coordinates with participating lab groups for data extraction and biorepository sample pulls requests.

  • Assists with inventory management of biorepository samples, gift cards and study supplies.

  • Other duties as assigned

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be comfortable collecting saliva, urine, or blood samples from patients.

  • Proficiency in the use of computers, including software applications, databases, mathematical and statistical tools, spreadsheets, and word processing.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Independent and self-motivated.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated strong, positive interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and within a variety of cultures.

  • Bilingual (proficient in both English and Spanish is preferred) but Spanish is not mandatory.

Work Schedule/Hours

  • This person will be working 40 hours a week/shift hours varies.

  • Must be available to work 8.5 hours shift with a 30-minute allocated lunch break, between the hours of 7:00 am and midnight, seven (7) days of the week.

  • Must be flexible and available to work some evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A year of related experience in clinical trials/medical research.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY ($52,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
