Whole Foods Market Compensation Manager in Austin, Texas

Job Description

Come join our dynamic Compensation Team at Whole Foods Market! We have an exciting new opportunity for a Compensation Manager who will develop and enhance Compensation programs across our Store Support (Corporate) and Non-Retail Facilities. We’re looking for someone who is curious, builds influential relationships, is proactive in driving change in alignment to company goals, and can provide the data to back it up.

This individual contributor, hybrid position is based in Austin, TX and requires at least three (3) days per week in the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the design and development of compensation programs and projects.

  • Provides complex data analyses, graphics, and statistical reports in support of plan design to solve current business issues.

  • Engages with business partners, leadership, and Team Members on design of compensation philosophy, policy, and procedures.

  • Engages with leadership to develop new compensation or Total Reward guidelines or propose updates to current guidelines.

  • Ensures compensation guidelines facilitate competitive, equitable, and cost-effective compensation programs.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of current programs / plans and makes recommendations to Total Reward leadership regarding improvements or changes to gain better alignment with industry best practices and with company incentive objectives.

  • Provides operational support and advice in specific compensation areas, including:

Base Compensation

  • Performs job analysis and job evaluation to develop job profiles.

  • Determines FLSA status of jobs.

  • Recommends appropriate pay categories for new and revised jobs based on competitive and internal equity considerations.

  • Guides leadership in rewards decisions.

Stock Administration

  • Coordinates the annual grant programs, providing estimated share requirements and grant sizes to leadership.

  • Oversees the relationships with stock administration vendors and service providers.

  • In conjunction with Legal and Audit, administers the insider stock trading window.

Compensation Systems

  • Designs, researches, analyzes, and maintains compensation information systems in support of TMS projects and administration.

  • Delegates auditing assignments to ensure data integrity.

  • Serves as liaison with Information Systems Team Members in resolving complex programming and related issues.

  • Recommends new equipment or software for continual system improvement.

  • Leverages in-depth understanding of compensation practices and systems to serve as influential thought leader across the organization.

  • Ability to perform job content design and analysis.

  • In-depth knowledge of HRIS and compensation information systems.

  • Creates a reputation of communicating effectively with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and partners.

  • Recognizes potential Team Member relations issues in a proactive manner, either resolving the issue or referring to higher levels. Mediates difficult interactions, escalating problems as appropriate.

  • Is recognized as a neutral and approachable TMS professional.

  • Derives evidence-based insights to recommend changes and influence organizational decision-making.

  • Masters research methods and their application in the development and application of compensation processes.

  • Differentiates best practices that will work within the organization.

  • Executes case and pilot studies to evaluate and address specific problems and questions.

  • Possesses clear understanding of WFM’s business objectives, competitive strengths, and opportunities.

  • Understands industry trends and emerging challenges from the perspective of people development, rewards, and retention.

  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.

  • Able to play a key and influential role working with others, in groups, in cross-functional settings, and with diverse stakeholders internally and externally.

  • Models commitment to customer service.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 4-6 years' relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
