Responsibilities Include: The Integration team within FirstEnergy's Information Technology group is responsible for the design, development and enhancement of Enterprise Application Integration and Business to Business (B2B) processes. We seek an individual that can confidently play the role of a Integration Developer. An Integration Developer at FirstEnergy works closely with IT business resources to make appropriate technological choices; proceeds to design, develop, and implement the required solution. This role requires deep understanding of databases and use of APIs. The ideal candidate is a skilled developer with experience creating integration solutions. An Integration Developer at FirstEnergy typically performs the following activities during the application development process: * Requirements analysis: In conjunction with an IT Business team collect, document and review functional and non-functional requirements for the integration process. * Solutions maintenance: Responsible for maintaining an existing library of integration solutions. Most solutions are developed using the webMethods suite with some ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) solutions. 95% of the work will be in webMethods. * Analysis and design: Working with an IT Business team define and document the integration process. Define and create integration solutions. Identify the various contributing source systems and source data elements; help define & build the extraction functions to obtain the source data. Define and document the various data transformations that must occur during this process. Incorporate maintainability, security and performance requirements into the design and specifications. * Build and test: Create solutions using the appropriate tools. Develop proof-of-concept items for the integration as necessary. Support the development of complex logic or functions necessary that help the organization's business achieve their goals. * Communicate design and logic to IT business teams by explaining how an integration solution functions. This will include identifying the source data, any transformations, and the target data. After doing the development, the documentation must be created for the support. Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions.
